Mosquitos in Brazoria County have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The infected mosquitos were found in several locations, including areas in Pearland, Lake Jackson, and West Columbia. Mosquito Control crews will be taking action to address the issue, spraying the affected areas nightly for the next few nights.

They will also be re-trapping the locations to monitor mosquito activity. Residents can take steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites, such as using insect repellent and wearing protective clothing. Further details on the affected areas and prevention measures are available from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
